Fun fact: Alysia and Rob were wearing matching t-shirts the day they met. Their story began at Duquesne University back in 2010. Alysia was a student there. Rob was an imposter.

Alysia’s friends convinced (forced) her to be on an intramural basketball team. Two of their team members dropped off of the team at the last minute, so one of Alysia’s friends convinced (forced) one of her friends (and his friend – Rob!) to replace the two team members who dropped out. Rob and his friend did not attend Duquesne, so technically they could not be on the team with their real identities. Plus, the matching t-shirts were already made with the other players’ names on them so there was no going back. So, they pretended to be the two people who dropped out.

On the day of the first game, Alysia and Rob met each other for the first time. Alysia had pneumonia and sat on the side lines. Rob is the opposite of a basketball player so he stood on the side lines with Alysia and distracted the other team. He (endearingly?) gave Alysia the nickname “pneumone” and grabbed her hand and made her skip with him…because who doesn’t feel better after skipping? Their efforts to distract the other team didn’t work, if anyone was wondering. Their team not only lost, but had to automatically forfeit because the other team was scoring so much so so SO quickly. But Rob and Alysia didn’t care…they just laughed and laughed and laughed and quickly became friends. Over a year later, their friendship finally culminated into the glorious romance that it still is today.
